Corrections Policy

1. Commitment

1.1The institution corrects its errors promptly, openly, and in the place the error appeared. A correction is not an embarrassment to be minimized; an uncorrected error is.

2. Reporting an error

2.1Anyone may report a suspected error by writing to contact@perrininstitution.org with the title of the work, the passage concerned, and the reason it is believed to be wrong, with a source where possible. Reports are acknowledged and reviewed by someone other than the author.

3. Types of change

• Correction: a factual error is fixed, and a dated note at the foot of the work says what was changed
• Clarification: wording that was accurate but misleading is revised, with a dated note
• Update: new information is added to a work that remains accurate, with a dated note
• Retraction: a work whose central findings cannot stand is withdrawn, and a notice explaining why replaces it

4. No silent changes

4.1The institution does not silently alter the substance of published work. Typographical fixes that do not change meaning may be made without a note.

5. The archive and the compendium

5.1Work published under Perrin & Fidutam is preserved as it was published. Corrections to archived work are recorded in a note alongside it rather than by altering the original, and the compendium is reissued when a correction is material.

6. Disagreements

6.1A disagreement with the institution's analysis or conclusions is not an error. The institution welcomes such disagreements and may publish responses, but it corrects only what is wrong.
